I’ve been photographing this tag as graffiti all over town – first time I’ve seen it on a sticker.
I pass this smiling newspaper vendor every morning. For some reason, this was the first morning I stopped and asked to take his picture, with the lovely red light from his umbrella filtering down.
Every year the Municipal Art society runs a series of “Jane’s Walks” throughout New York, honoring Jane Jacobs, the anti-urban planner. We chose to tour Lost and Found Murals of East Harlem and met here, at the site of a James De La Vega mural honoring Celia Cruz, not far from where I grew up and went to school, where many of my classmates lived in public housing in the streets we traversed.
